Pro Deo Et Patria- An Army Chaplain

I am a chaplain in the US Army, serving in Iraq. I'm keeping a blog to share my thoughts and experiences while deployed. They are my thoughts and they don't necessarily reflect the opinions of the US Army! :)

This is a bit disconcerting:

God might not mind...but I do. So in this Bishops mind, if everyone does it...so should we???? Very courageous! If the Almighty is above such "bickering", why call him Allah and possibly alienate the other billion or so people on this planet. Why not come up with some made up neutral name like "Ole"? Who could be upset with the name "Ole"? :)

What?!?!?!?!?!? This is insane! Why should I change the name of MY God to make someone else happy?! What about me? What about my God?!

That "priest" needs to rethink things a bit!

They call God "Allah" in Catholic Malta, but that's simply a reflection of the vernacular! This is something else entirely ...

Being Catholic, I have a serious problem that a bishop from my Church said this.

I am tired today but reading about this bishop, and i am catholic. We should slap him silly. To me Allah is not a true God. Too many muslims use Allah to kill and destroy women and children. Allah to me is the DEVIL..

How about you give them a BIBLE, and teach them to change Allah to GOD.

'scuse me, Bishop, but Allah is NOT God to Christians. He (Allah) is the male consort of an ancient Arabian moon goddess named Allat. Muhammed titled Allah as God when he created Islam (and copied large portions of the Old Testament along with it, which he incorporated into the Koran.)Our God, the eternal Lord of the Universe (and beyond) is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the One God, three persons of the Holy Trinity.
He, and only He, is God.

Exodus 20:2-4 (New International Version)
"I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below."

Exodus 3:14 (King James Version) "And God said unto Moses, 'I AM THAT I AM:' and he said, 'Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.'

God is the one and only, I will never call my Lord 'Allah'.
